Sri Lanka Unveils 16-Man Squad for Upcoming ODI Series Against Bangladesh
Sri Lanka's ODI Squad Announcement
Sri Lanka has revealed a 16-member squad for the forthcoming One Day International series against Bangladesh. Fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka makes his return after recovering from an injury, taking the place of the injured Lahiru Kumara.
All-rounder Milan Rathnayake has also been included in the squad. Although he has played five Test matches for Sri Lanka, he has yet to make his debut in ODIs or T20Is. Currently, he is dealing with a side strain that sidelined him during the second Test against Bangladesh, but the team is optimistic about his readiness for the first ODI on July 2.
Wicketkeeper-batter Sadeera Samarawickrama is set to make a comeback as well. He last represented Sri Lanka in November 2024 but was omitted from the squad due to a dip in form. He replaces Nuwanidu Fernando and aims to perform well against Bangladesh.
Pace bowler Eshan Malinga retains his spot in the squad following his impressive performances for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025. Asitha Fernando joins the pace attack, adding a blend of youth and experience to the fast bowling lineup.
In the spin department, Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana are the key players, supported by leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay and left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage.
The top-order batting lineup features Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, and Nishan Madushka, creating a balanced mix of seasoned and emerging talent.
The first two ODIs are scheduled to take place in Colombo on July 2 and July 5, with the final ODI set for July 8 in Pallekele. Following the ODI series, a three-match T20I series will commence on July 10 in Pallekele.
