Aditya Tare has ignited discussions regarding MS Dhoni's potential comeback, noting that the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend was spotted keeping wickets in a practice session before their crucial match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday. Dhoni, a former Indian cricket star, has not yet participated in IPL 2026 due to ongoing recovery from an injury.

Tare's Surprise at Dhoni's Wicketkeeping

During an appearance on Star Sports, Tare expressed his astonishment at seeing Dhoni in wicketkeeping gear during the nets, which he described as an unusual occurrence, particularly following the veteran's recent calf injury. "I was observing the practice, and the most surprising aspect was Mahi bhai keeping wickets. I have never witnessed him wearing wicketkeeping gloves in a net session before," Tare remarked.

Positive Signs for Dhoni's Recovery

Tare, a former MI player, pointed out that Dhoni typically restricts himself to batting or light drills during practice, making this event significant as it may indicate his recovery progress. "He had his helmet, pads, and keeping gloves on. He is likely testing his match fitness after the calf injury," he added.

He further noted that while Dhoni had previously batted in practice, this was the first instance of him taking on wicketkeeping duties this season, which he deemed a positive sign for CSK. "This is the first time I have seen him keep wickets this year. That is a good sign. CSK might have him back on the field very soon," Tare concluded.

Upcoming Match Against Mumbai Indians

The Chennai Super Kings are set to compete against their rivals, the Mumbai Indians, at the renowned Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 23. Currently, CSK is positioned eighth in the IPL 2026 standings, while MI is just ahead in seventh place.
