South Africa Unveils Provisional Squad for FIFA World Cup 2026

Cape Town, South Africa - On May 22, coach Hugo Broos revealed a provisional squad of 32 players for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026. Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams will lead the team as they strive to qualify for the World Cup finals for the first time since their hosting in 2010.
Among the notable players in Broos's selection are captain and goalkeeper Williams, midfielder Teboho Mokoena, and striker Lyle Foster. The squad features nine players from Mamelodi Sundowns and another nine from Orlando Pirates, including forward Oswin Appollis, as reported on the FIFA website.
This initial squad of 32 will be reduced to 26 players ahead of the final World Cup roster.
South Africa's journey in the FIFA World Cup 2026 will kick off against co-hosts Mexico at the Mexico City Stadium. Following this, they will face the Czech Republic in Atlanta and conclude their Group A matches against South Korea in Monterrey.
