South Africa's Dominance on Day 4

On Day 4 of the second Test at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, South Africa showcased their strength by scoring 113 runs while losing only one wicket, increasing their lead to 508 runs against India.

As lunch approached, the Proteas stood at 220/4, with Tristan Zorzi (60*) and Wiaan Mulder (29*) forming a crucial partnership of 42 runs off 71 balls for the fifth wicket.

Highlights from the Second Session

Beginning the session at 107/3, Zorzi and de Zorzi were at 14 and 21 runs, respectively.

Both players adopted a cautious approach, with Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar opening the bowling for India.

The first boundary of the session came from de Zorzi, who executed a stunning reverse-sweep off Sundar in the 44th over.

Kuldeep maintained tight bowling, and Jadeja replaced Sundar, continuing to apply pressure on the Proteas batters.

Jadeja's Breakthrough

Kuldeep nearly claimed Stubbs' wicket, deceiving him during the second ball of the 50th over.

Tristan finally broke the pressure with a reverse-sweep for four runs off Yadav in the 52nd over.

Jadeja's tight bowling troubled both de Zorzi and Stubbs, and India challenged an LBW call against Tristan, which was ultimately deemed missing the leg stump.

Jadeja eventually dismissed de Zorzi for 48 runs off 69 balls, including five boundaries, in the 59th over, with the Proteas at 178/4.

Consolidation by Stubbs and Mulder

Wiaan Mulder joined Stubbs at the crease, hitting his first boundary against Kuldeep in the 59th over and looking confident throughout his innings.

Stubbs reached his fifty in 129 balls during the 62nd over, as the Proteas managed to score 113 runs in the second session while losing just one wicket.

Recap of the Morning Session

South Africa began the day at 26/0, with openers Ryan Rickelton (13*) and Aiden Markram (12*) not out.

Jadeja ended Rickelton's innings at 35 runs off 64 balls, taking a catch at cover.

Markram fell next, bowled by Jadeja for 29 runs off 84 balls, leaving South Africa at 74/2.

Washington Sundar dismissed skipper Temba Bavuma for just three runs, reducing SA to 77/3.

De Zorzi countered the pressure with a massive six off Sundar, helping the team surpass the 100-run mark before tea.
