Guwahati: On the fourth day of the second Test at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, South Africa's batters showcased remarkable composure, extending their lead to an impressive 508 runs against India.

Openers Ryan Rickleton and Aiden Markram started the day confidently, moving from an overnight score of 26/0 to 58/1 before Rickleton was dismissed. The Proteas made steady progress in the morning session, with Rickleton scoring 35 before falling to Jadeja while attempting a big shot.

The pitch remained conducive for batting, showing no signs of deterioration. Washington Sundar bowled effectively early on, skillfully varying his pace to manage the run rate.

While the openers handled the seamers well, their cautious approach against the spinners led to unexpected dismissals. Jadeja claimed both openers in the first session, and Temba Bavuma was caught at leg slip off Sundar.

Zorzi and Stubbs, however, found gaps for regular boundaries before the tea break. In the second session, South Africa's lead surged past 400 runs, revitalizing their innings.

De Zorzi played aggressively, utilizing the sweep shot to score boundaries on the leg side, while Stubbs took his time to settle in.

Zorzi was in excellent form until Jadeja struck again, trapping him lbw for 49.

In the 69th over, Yashasvi Jaiswal bowled but was quickly punished by Wiaan Mulder, who found a boundary off his fourth delivery.

With four sessions remaining, South Africa remains firmly in control, boasting a lead of 508 runs after adding 113 runs in the second session while losing only Zorzi.
