Proteas Secure Victory in Final Super Eights Match
South Africa concluded their Super Eights journey without a loss, defeating Zimbabwe by five wickets in their final match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.
While chasing a target of 154 runs, the Proteas faced early challenges, losing their first three wickets during the powerplay. Quinton de Kock was dismissed by Sikandar Raza in the opening over, followed by Aiden Markram, who fell for just four runs in Raza's next over.
Ryan Rickelton managed to score 31 runs off 22 balls before being dismissed in the sixth over.
David Miller partnered with Dewald Brevis, contributing to a 50-run partnership for the fourth wicket until Blessing Muzarabani ended their collaboration in the 10th over. Miller scored 22 runs off 16 balls, including two sixes and two fours.
Brevis showcased his hitting ability, scoring 42 runs off just 18 balls, featuring four sixes and two fours, before being dismissed by Raza.
Tristan Stubbs (21 not out off 24 balls) and George Linde (30 not out off 21 balls) guided South Africa to victory with 13 balls remaining.
Zimbabwe's Struggles Despite Raza's Efforts
Zimbabwe, who had been unbeaten in the league stage, ended their Super Eights campaign with three consecutive losses.
Batting first, Zimbabwe struggled to set a competitive score. Early breakthroughs by South African bowlers, including Kwena Maphaka and Anrich Nortje, put the Zimbabwean batsmen under pressure, with Sikandar Raza being the standout performer with a solid 73 runs.
Zimbabwe lost their opener, Tadiwanashe Marumani, in the second over, with Maphaka clean bowling him for just seven runs.
In the fifth over, Anrich Nortje dismissed Brian Bennett for 15 runs off 13 balls, which included two boundaries.
At the end of the powerplay, Zimbabwe was at 45/2.
In the ninth over, George Linde took the wicket of Dion Myers, who scored 11 runs off 16 balls.
After ten overs, Zimbabwe was positioned at 80/3, with Raza scoring his first runs of the tournament in 29 balls during the 13th over.

In the 17th over, Maphaka claimed the crucial wicket of Raza, who scored a commendable 73 runs off 43 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes.
Clive Madande's late contribution of 26 runs off 20 balls, including three fours, helped Zimbabwe finish with 153 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
For South Africa, George Linde (1/22), Kwena Maphaka (2/21), Lungi Ngidi (1/29), Anrich Nortje (1/29), and Corbin Bosch (2/40) were the key wicket-takers.
