South Africa Triumphs by 19 Runs

In an exciting fourth T20I match at Wellington's Sky Stadium on Sunday, South Africa secured a 19-run victory against New Zealand, leveling the five-match series at 2-2.

Esterhuizen's Stellar Performance

Choosing to bat first, South Africa's opening pair, Wiaan Mulder and Tony de Zorzi (23 runs off 21 balls), faced an early setback as Mulder was dismissed without scoring in the first over by Kyle Jamieson.

Connor Esterhuizen stepped in at number three and formed a crucial partnership of 81 runs for the second wicket with de Zorzi. Esterhuizen achieved his first half-century, scoring 57 runs off 36 balls, featuring seven fours and three sixes.

Rubin Hermann and Dian Forrester (19 runs off 14 balls) contributed 38 runs for the fourth wicket, while Jason Smith added 19 runs. George Linde (14*) and Hermann (28 not out off 25 balls) remained at the crease, guiding their team to a total of 164/5 in 20 overs.

Jamieson claimed two wickets, while Zakary Foulkes, Ben Sears, and Cole McConchie each took one wicket.

New Zealand Struggles in Run Chase

In pursuit of 165 runs, New Zealand began with Tim Robinson and debutant Katene Clarke. Clarke managed to score nine runs off five balls before being dismissed by Mulder.

Robinson (32 runs off 22 balls) formed a brief partnership of 24 runs with Dane Cleaver (26 runs off 16 balls). However, South Africa's bowlers consistently took wickets, preventing the Blackcaps from establishing significant partnerships. McConchie hit a few boundaries but was bowled by Keshav Maharaj, further complicating their chase.

Gerald Coetzee claimed the final wicket of Jamieson, leaving New Zealand at 145 all out. Coetzee finished with three wickets, while Maharaj, Ottneil Baartman, and Prenelan Subrayen each took two wickets.

Deciding Match Scheduled in Christchurch

Connor Esterhuizen was awarded Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. The fifth T20I, which will determine the series winner, is set to take place at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Wednesday.
