South Africa Announces Squad for ICC World Test Championship Final Against Australia

Bavuma Leads South Africa's Squad
Temba Bavuma has been appointed to lead a 15-member squad representing South Africa in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia, scheduled for June. The team has been bolstered by the return of fast bowler Lungi Ngidi, who had been sidelined due to a groin injury during the home summer matches.
Ngidi Set to Play in the Final
Ngidi, who has made a full recovery, has participated in white-ball cricket for South Africa earlier this year and has also played in various global T20 leagues. Under Bavuma's leadership, South Africa will compete in their inaugural WTC Final, commencing on June 11 at Lord's.
Middle Order Strengthened by MI Star Ryan Rickelton
The top order will feature Tony de Zorzi, Ryan Rickelton, and Aiden Markram, while the middle order will be reinforced by rising talent Tristan Stubbs, David Bedingham, and Bavuma himself. Kyle Verreynne is expected to be a dynamic presence behind the stumps and lower down the batting order, with all-rounders Wiaan Mulder and Marco Jansen also ready to contribute.
The Proteas' Pace Attack
Joining Mulder and Jansen in the fast-bowling department will be star pacer Kagiso Rabada, Ngidi, Dane Paterson, and Corbin Bosch. The spin department will be led by Keshav Maharaj, supported by Senuran Muthusamy. The Proteas have largely retained their core group, making only two adjustments to the squad that faced Pakistan. Youngster Kwena Maphaka has been left out to accommodate Ngidi's return, while top-order batsman Matthew Breetzke has also been omitted.
South Africa's Impressive Performance
South Africa topped the league stage with a points percentage of 69.44, showcasing dominance at home with series victories over Pakistan and Sri Lanka, alongside a draw against India. Their away performance was commendable as well, with wins against the West Indies and Bangladesh, their only defeat occurring in New Zealand when several key players were unavailable.
