South Africa Adjusts Women's ODI Squad for Tri-Series in Sri Lanka
South Africa Women's ODI Squad Update
Johannesburg [South Africa], April 17: In a recent development, South Africa has made a last-minute change to their squad for the upcoming Women’s ODI tri-series in Sri Lanka. This adjustment comes after a batting all-rounder was sidelined due to health issues, as reported by the ICC.
Anneke Bosch, aged 31, will not participate in the Proteas Women’s ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and India. In her place, top-order batter Lara Goodall has been called up to join the team.
This modification allows Goodall to step in just before the squad's departure to Colombo on April 22.
Captain Laura Wolvaardt will lead a mix of seasoned players and newcomers, with key players like Chloe Tryon, Ayabonga Khaka, Sune Luus, and Nonkululeko Mlaba forming the backbone of the team.
Additionally, three players are set to make their debut with the senior national team. Wicketkeeper Karabo Meso and spinner Seshnie Naidu, both of whom showcased their skills at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year, have been included in the tri-series lineup.
They will be joined by all-rounder Miane Smit, who was a reserve player during last year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
The team, under Wolvaardt's leadership, will face India in their first match on Tuesday, April 29, at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
The tri-series format will see each team compete against the others twice, culminating in a final between the top two teams.
