South Africa's Dominance in Asia Continues

The reigning World Test Champions, South Africa, have solidified their presence in Asia by securing their third consecutive unbeaten series after triumphing over India with a 2-0 victory. This latest win marks South Africa's second series success in Asia within two years, following their first series win against Bangladesh last year since 2014, and a 1-1 draw against Pakistan earlier this year.

Proteas Clinch Series with Convincing Win

In the second and final Test held at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, South Africa achieved a remarkable 408-run victory over India, thanks to Simon Harmer's six-wicket haul, Senuran Muthuswamy's first Test century, and impressive performances from Tristan Stubbs and Marco Jansen. Under the captaincy of Temba Bavuma, the Proteas completed a clean sweep against the Indian team, having previously won the first Test by 30 runs at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Historic Achievement for South Africa

This victory marks South Africa's first Test series win in India since 2000, when they last achieved this feat under Hansie Cronje's leadership. Temba Bavuma now joins the ranks of captains who have led the team to success in India. Additionally, this win represents South Africa's second-largest victory margin by runs, following their 492-run win against Australia in Johannesburg in 2018.

India's Home Fortress Compromised

This series marks India's second home whitewash under head coach Gautam Gambhir, following a 0-3 defeat to New Zealand last year. Historically, India had only lost two home series since their 0-2 defeat to South Africa in 2000, against Australia in 2004 and England in 2012. The last time India faced two consecutive home Test series losses was over 40 years ago against West Indies and England. Furthermore, the 408-run defeat is now India's largest loss in Test cricket, surpassing their previous record of 342 runs against Australia in 2004.
