"He had also sent me an email once before, in 2011 when I was the KKR captain, that he wanted to coach KKR," Ganguly shared. When asked if Chappell anticipated taking on the coaching role while Ganguly continued as captain, he confirmed, "With me as captain." Reflecting on the potential dynamics had he accepted the offer, Ganguly humorously remarked, "Dada is not that big of a fool. He might be a fool once, but he can't be fooled over and over again."

Ganguly's response was straightforward; he chose to ignore the message. "I don't answer people who are not honest," he stated, effectively shutting down any possibility of reconciliation. He emphasized the importance of honesty in communication, saying, "You can have opinions. You may feel somebody is not a good player, or is an average player. But I don't like people who take the wrong route to solve problems. I like people who tell me to my face that you are not good enough," the former Indian captain expressed.
