Sourav Ganguly Advocates for Kuldeep Yadav's Inclusion in India's Third Test Against England

Ganguly's Birthday Call for Kuldeep Yadav
As former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly celebrates his 53rd birthday on Tuesday, he has urged for spinner Kuldeep Yadav to be included in the playing eleven for the upcoming third Test against England at Lord's, contingent on the pitch conditions.
In a conversation with a news outlet, Ganguly praised the young captain Shubman Gill for his impressive batting performance. He remarked, "It's great to see a young captain taking charge and performing well in challenging away conditions. However, there are still three more Test matches to play."
Ganguly also acknowledged Gill's remarkable achievement of being the first batter to score both 200 and 150 runs in the same Test, describing it as a "phenomenal record."
India's Position Ahead of the Third Test
India enters the third Test with the series tied at 1-1, following a historic victory at Edgbaston by 336 runs, showcasing a strong all-round performance against England.
Ganguly expressed his desire for Kuldeep to be part of the team, stating, "It's crucial to include Kuldeep, but we must assess the conditions. If the pitch is green, we might need another seamer, including Bumrah. However, on a good wicket, Kuldeep's inclusion is essential."
Despite having played only one match in England back in 2018 without taking any wickets, Kuldeep has an impressive record against England, having claimed 21 wickets in six matches at an average of 22.28, with his best figures being 5/72.
Since his Test debut in 2017, Kuldeep has participated in just 13 Tests, securing 56 wickets at an average of 22.16, including four five-wicket hauls.
Celebrating India's Edgbaston Triumph
Reflecting on India's historic win at Edgbaston, Ganguly stated, "Shubman and Yashasvi were exceptional, and the fast bowlers along with Ravindra Jadeja performed admirably. It's fantastic to see young players stepping up and leading the team to victory."
"India is brimming with talent; players like Akash Deep, Siraj, Yashasvi, and Gill are all impressive," he added.
