Sewing and Munro Dominate in Ho Chi Minh City


Sofia Sewing and Jack Munro showcased exceptional skills at the APP International Tour event held from March 19-22 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, each securing two titles during the inaugural leg of the 2026 Pickleball DJoy Petrolimex Cup. This tournament attracted a competitive international lineup, featuring athletes from the United States, Australia, Asia, and the host country, Vietnam, marking the first stop on the global circuit. Although Sewing narrowly missed a triple crown, she still achieved gold in both women’s doubles and mixed doubles. Munro, who is ranked World No. 37 in DUPR men’s doubles, also claimed two titles, winning mixed doubles with Sewing and men’s doubles alongside Richard Livornese Jr.


Mixed Doubles: Sewing and Munro Claim Gold


The top-seeded duo of Sewing and Munro concluded their campaign with a decisive victory over Vivian Glozman and Quang Duong in the final, winning in straight games with scores of 11-8, 11-2, thereby securing their double-gold achievement for the weekend.


Women’s Doubles: Sewing Continues Winning Streak


In the women’s doubles event, Sewing teamed up with Megan Fudge to triumph over Shelby Bates and Roos van Reek, winning in straight games with scores of 11-9, 11-8. This victory marked their third consecutive title on the APP International Tour.


Men’s Doubles: Munro Stages a Comeback


In the men’s doubles final, Munro and Livornese Jr. made a remarkable comeback after losing the first game 3-11. The top seeds rallied back to win the next two games decisively, with scores of 11-2 and 11-0, ultimately clinching the title.


Singles Titles for Vietnam and Europe


In men’s singles, Vietnam’s Phuc Huynh maintained his impressive form, defeating fellow countryman Dac Thien Nguyen with a score of 11-3, 11-1 in the final. Jamie Chaudhary secured the bronze medal after overcoming Hung Anh.


The women’s singles championship was claimed by Domenika Turkovic, who triumphed over top seed Sewing in the final. Sewing had previously fought back from a game down to defeat Yu-Chieh Hsieh in the semi-finals but fell short in the championship match.


This event in Vietnam marked the start of the APP’s 2026 international calendar, drawing a blend of seasoned and rising players. Over 20 APP-contracted professionals participated, contributing to a highly competitive atmosphere across all categories.


Following this event, the tour will head to Seattle for its first domestic stop of the season.
