SOBO Mumbai Falcons Advance to T20 Women's League Final with Dominant Victory
Falcons Secure Final Spot with Strong Bowling Performance
The SOBO Mumbai Falcons clinched their place in the final of the inaugural T20 Mumbai Women's League by achieving their third consecutive win, defeating Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburb by 39 runs at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
Setting a challenging target of 143 runs for the Tigers, the Falcons showcased an impressive bowling effort, restricting the opposition to just 104 runs in 18.2 overs. The Tigers' chase began poorly as their captain, Humairaa Kaazi, was dismissed for a duck by Sayali Satghare before the team could score any runs.
Tigers Struggle in the Chase
Despite a 47-run partnership for the second wicket between opener Sanika Chalke and Sejal Raut, the Tigers could not recover from early setbacks. Sejal scored 15 runs before being dismissed in the seventh over, while Sanika managed to score 42 runs before being run out, leaving the team at 61/3.
Following Sanika's departure, the Tigers faced difficulties in maintaining the required run rate, leading to regular wickets falling. The remaining batters failed to make significant contributions, resulting in the innings ending at 104 runs. Sayali Satghare led the bowling attack with figures of 2/21, supported by Nirmiti Rane (2/21) and Swara Jadhav (2/12), who each took two wickets.
Koli's Performance Sets the Stage for Victory
Earlier in the match, Sarika Koli's solid innings of 49 runs laid the groundwork for the Falcons' total. After being put to bat, the Falcons faced an early loss with Riya Chaudhari scoring just two runs.
Simran Shaikh (38) and Aarohi Bambode (19) contributed a crucial 44-run partnership for the second wicket before the Tigers struck back with two quick wickets. Koli then partnered with captain Sayali, adding 43 runs for the fourth wicket.
Fatima Jaffar, who excelled with bowling figures of 3/20, broke the partnership by dismissing Sayali and continued to apply pressure on the Falcons' scoring. Despite losing partners, Koli's vital knock of 49 runs helped the Falcons reach a competitive total of 143/7, which proved to be more than enough as their bowlers delivered another stellar performance, keeping their unbeaten streak intact.
