Smriti Mandhana Postpones Wedding Due to Father's Health Emergency
Wedding Delayed Amid Health Concerns
The wedding of renowned Indian women's cricket player Smriti Mandhana and musician Palash Muchhal has been postponed indefinitely due to her father, Srinivas Mandhana, falling ill. The couple was set to tie the knot on Sunday, November 23.
Mandhana shares a deep emotional bond with her father, who has been a constant source of support throughout her cricketing journey.
Tuhin Mishra, Mandhana's manager, reported that her father experienced sudden health issues on Sunday morning. He stated, 'Srinivas Mandhana began feeling unwell while having breakfast. We initially thought he would recover quickly, but his condition did not improve. Consequently, we called for an ambulance and took him to the hospital, where he is currently under medical supervision.'
Decision to Postpone the Ceremony
Given her father's health situation, Mandhana has decided to delay her wedding until he recovers. Mishra added, 'Smriti is very close to her father, which is why she has chosen to postpone the wedding until he is better.'
He further mentioned, 'Doctors have advised that he needs to remain in the hospital for now. We are all in shock and hope for his swift recovery, as this is a significant moment for everyone involved.'
Mishra requested respect for the family's privacy during this challenging time.
Medical Update on Srinivas Mandhana
Dr. Naman Shah, the family physician, confirmed that a medical team is closely monitoring Srinivas Mandhana's condition. He told a news outlet, 'Around 1:30 PM, Srinivas experienced chest pain on the left side, which we refer to as angina in medical terms. After receiving a call from his son, we dispatched an ambulance to take him to the hospital.'
He added, 'ECG and other tests indicated elevated cardiac enzymes, necessitating close observation. His blood pressure is also high, and efforts are underway to manage it. The entire team is monitoring the situation, and if it worsens, angiography may be required. Smriti and her family are in touch with us, and we hope his condition stabilizes by tomorrow.'
Prior to the wedding, a week-long celebration was already underway in their hometown of Sangli.
