India's Dominance in the Second Test


Birmingham: In a remarkable display of batting, Shubman Gill scored a stunning 161 runs, supported by half-centuries from KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja, allowing India to set a daunting target of 608 runs for England in the second Test on Saturday.


India declared their second innings at 427 for six, having established a lead of 180 runs from their first innings.


Gill's impressive performance followed his earlier innings of 269, as he struck 161 runs off just 162 balls, including 13 boundaries and eight sixes.


Rishabh Pant contributed a quick 65 runs from 58 balls, hitting eight fours and three sixes, and forming a significant 110-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Gill.


Jadeja remained unbeaten on 69 runs from 118 balls, adding to a brisk 175-run partnership for the fifth wicket alongside the Indian captain.


Resuming play on the fourth day at 64 for one, India lost KL Rahul (55) and Karun Nair (26) during the first session.
