Shubman Gill Achieves Historic IPL Milestone

In a remarkable feat, Shubman Gill has become the youngest cricketer to score 4,000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This achievement occurred during the Gujarat Titans' match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday.

Gill reached this milestone at the age of 26 years and 216 days, surpassing the previous record held by Virat Kohli, who accomplished the same feat at 27 years and 195 days in 2016.

Currently, Gill boasts a total of 4,031 runs from 118 IPL innings, maintaining an impressive average of 39.91. His record includes 28 half-centuries and four centuries.

In terms of speed, Gill is now the fifth fastest player to reach 4,000 runs in IPL history. KL Rahul holds the record for the quickest, achieving this in just 104 innings.

Gujarat Titans Triumph Over Lucknow Super Giants

During the match, the Gujarat Titans chased down a target of 165 runs, with Gill contributing 56 runs off 40 balls, which included six fours and a six. His innings laid a solid foundation for the team's success.

Despite his dismissal, Gill's performance was pivotal as Jos Buttler also shone with a quickfire 60 runs off 37 balls, leading the Titans to victory by seven wickets.

With this win, the Gujarat Titans now sit in fifth place on the IPL 2026 points table, having secured two wins and two losses, totaling four points. Conversely, the Lucknow Super Giants have dropped to sixth place with the same win-loss record.

Lucknow Super Giants batted first, managing to score 164 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Aiden Markram was the only player to surpass 20 runs, scoring 30 off 21 balls, while Krishna excelled with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 28 runs. The Titans successfully chased the target with seven wickets in hand and eight balls remaining.
