Shubman Gill Makes History as First Indian Captain to Score Double Century in SENA Countries

Historic Achievement by Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill, the captain of the Indian Test cricket team, has etched his name in history during the second Test against England. He has become the first Indian player to score a double century as a captain in Test matches not only against England but also in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia). Previously, Mohammad Azharuddin held the record with a score of 192 runs, achieved in Auckland against New Zealand. Additionally, Gill is now the third Indian to score 200 or more runs in a Test match in England.

As the first Indian captain to achieve a double century in England, Gill joins the ranks of legendary players like Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid, who have also scored double centuries in the country. His performance in this series has been remarkable, as he is the only player to have accumulated over 350 runs so far. In the first match, he scored a century, making 147 runs in the first innings, although he managed only 8 runs in the second innings. Overall, he has surpassed the 350-run mark in just three innings.
