Shresta Iyer, sister of cricketer Shreyas Iyer, took a playful jab at the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) following their rain-affected match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Eden Gardens. The game was halted after just 22 balls due to inclement weather, resulting in both teams sharing a point. This outcome marked KKR's first point of the IPL 2026 season, while PBKS moved to the top of the standings.

Shresta's humorous commentary quickly gained traction on social media. In a video she posted on Instagram, she joked in Punjabi, "Saade Punjabiyan da dil vadda hunda hai, lo de ditta ek point," which translates to Punjabis being generous enough to give away a point. This remark was seen as a clever dig at KKR, especially considering Shreyas Iyer's previous success with the team, leading them to an IPL title in 2024 before his departure.

The match was abandoned after only 3.4 overs, with KKR struggling at 25 for two when rain intervened. KKR's captain, Ajinkya Rahane, had opted to bat first after winning the toss, but the team faced early setbacks as Xavier Bartlett took two wickets in the second over, dismissing Finn Allen and Cameron Green.

As KKR seeks their first win of the season, the washout allowed them to finally register a point after a series of losses. Meanwhile, PBKS, with two wins and a draw, now leads the points table with five points from three matches. Upcoming fixtures include KKR facing the Lucknow Super Giants on April 9 and PBKS taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11 in Mullanpur.
