Shreyas Iyer's Stellar Performance in ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Dubai [UAE], April 8: Indian middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for March 2025.


Iyer played a pivotal role in India's success during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, contributing significantly to the team's middle-order.


In three ODIs during the tournament, he amassed 172 runs, achieving an impressive average of 57.33 and a strike rate of 77.47, making him India's top scorer.


His highest score of 79 was against New Zealand in a Group A match, and he also scored 45 in the semi-final against Australia, followed by a composed 48 in the final against the Black Caps, leading India to victory. Overall, Iyer totaled 243 runs in five matches, with two half-centuries and an average of 48.60, according to ICC statistics.


His knack for stabilizing the innings and forming crucial partnerships was essential for India during critical moments of the tournament.


Another nominee for the award is New Zealand's Jacob Duffy, who had an outstanding March, particularly in the five-match T20I series against Pakistan.


Duffy emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the Black Caps' 4-1 series triumph over Pakistan, securing 13 wickets at an average of 8.38 and an economy rate of 6.17.


His remarkable performances included a career-best 4/14 in the series opener in Christchurch and another four-wicket haul (4/20) in the fourth match in Mount Maunganui, proving to be a formidable challenge for the Pakistani batsmen.


Thanks to his exceptional form, the 30-year-old climbed to the top of the ICC Men’s T20I bowling rankings.


Duffy also took two wickets in the first ODI against Pakistan at the end of March, finishing the month with 15 wickets from just six matches.


Another standout player from New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra, showcased his all-round skills as the team advanced to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final.


In three ODIs during March, he scored 151 runs at an impressive average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 106.33, while also taking three wickets at a commendable economy rate of 4.66.


His defining moment came in the semi-final against South Africa, where he scored a remarkable 108, his second century of the tournament, forming a crucial 164-run partnership with Kane Williamson that helped the Black Caps set a record total in the Champions Trophy.


With the ball, Ravindra maintained pressure with economical spells, taking at least one wicket in each of the three ODIs. He concluded the tournament with the Golden Bat for the most runs and was named 'Player of the Tournament' for his total of 263 runs in four matches.
