Dube's Remarkable Birthday Achievement

Shivam Dube made a memorable impact on his birthday by taking a wicket with his very first delivery. The right-arm medium pacer dismissed Benjamin Calitz, who scored 15 runs. Celebrating his 33rd birthday on June 26, 2023, Dube has now joined the ranks of Indian cricketers who have achieved the rare feat of claiming a wicket on their birthday. Notably, he is the first right-arm bowler to accomplish this milestone, joining the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav. Dube, who debuted for India in 2019, has solidified his position in the team and was part of the victorious T20 World Cup squads in 2024 and 2026. With his age on his side, he has the potential to participate in future T20 World Cups. However, he has only played four ODIs, with his last match occurring in 2024, and he is not currently in contention for the Test team.

No Debut for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi did not make his debut in the opening match against Ireland, as the management opted to retain the established opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson. However, he may have the chance to debut in the upcoming second game. Sooryavanshi is also included in the squad for the series against England and the Asian Games. India captain Shreyas Iyer commented on the decision, stating, "Unfortunately, no. He’s a gun player. But obviously, we’ve got tremendous experience in the squad who have done brilliantly in the past couple of series for India. So we are backing the majority of our cricketers who have been performing exceptionally well throughout the season. I believe he will get his opportunity when the time comes. For now, we are going with three genuine seamers, one all-rounder, and two spinners." Sooryavanshi had an impressive IPL 2026 season, winning the Orange Cap with 776 runs and later scoring 94 runs off just 29 balls in a match for India A.
