Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has voiced his strong belief in the capabilities of legendary players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, asserting that they will significantly contribute to the Indian team in the upcoming 2027 ODI World Cup.

Both Rohit and Kohli, now exclusively playing ODIs, showcased impressive performances during the series against England in July, despite India losing the three-match series 2-1.

Amid ongoing discussions regarding their ages—Kohli at 37 and Rohit at 39—both players have consistently silenced skeptics with their remarkable performances. Kohli recorded two half-centuries, while Rohit scored a brilliant century at Lord's.

Praise for Kohli and Rohit

In an interview, Dhawan referred to Kohli and Rohit as legends who have dedicated many years to Indian cricket. He emphasized his long-standing friendship with both players, dating back to when they were around 16 years old. Dhawan commended Rohit for his recent century at Lord's, highlighting how he has responded to challenges with his batting prowess.

He also praised Kohli's fitness and performance, stating that no amount of praise seems sufficient for his achievements. Dhawan expressed his confidence that both players will be instrumental in helping India secure victory in the World Cup.

"They are legends who have served the country for many years. Both Virat and Rohit are younger than me by a few years, and it brings me joy to see them preparing for the World Cup. Rohit's century at Lord's was a testament to his skill, especially in tough situations," Dhawan remarked.

"As for Virat, he continues to impress with his fitness and performance. I am confident that both will add immense value to the team and contribute to our success in the World Cup," Dhawan concluded during the inauguration of the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation's first STEM Lab.
