New Delhi, Sep 24: Shaunae Miller-Uibo, a two-time Olympic champion, has been appointed as the International Event Ambassador for the upcoming Delhi Half Marathon 2026. The renowned Bahamian sprinter will participate in the 21st edition of this prestigious race, scheduled to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 18.
This event will showcase Miller-Uibo's involvement in one of India's key distance-running competitions, where her expertise as a celebrated 400m athlete will enhance the experience for both competitive and recreational runners.
As a two-time Olympic gold medalist, Miller-Uibo triumphed in the women's 400m at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Games. Her victory in Tokyo marked her as only the second woman, following France's Marie-José Perec, to defend an Olympic 400m title successfully, achieving a North American record of 48.36 seconds in the process.
Her illustrious career at the World Championships includes a silver medal in the 400m in both 2015 and 2019, culminating in a world title in Eugene in 2022. Additionally, she secured a bronze in the 200m at the 2017 World Championships, with her personal best of 21.74 seconds still standing as the Bahamian national record.
Miller-Uibo's international impact began during her collegiate years at the University of Georgia, where she won the 200m at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and later contributed to a mixed 4x400m relay gold for The Bahamas at the World Athletics Relays.
Looking forward to her visit to India, Miller-Uibo expressed that her participation goes beyond merely attending a race.

The Delhi Half Marathon brings together people from different backgrounds, with different stories and abilities, united by the simple joy of running.

I hope my journey inspires runners here to trust their process, stay consistent and keep believing in what they can achieve. I’m looking forward to sharing this experience with the runners of Delhi and seeing everyone at the start line.”
