Serena Williams Set for Wimbledon Comeback Amidst Novak Djokovic's Training
Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams Unite on the Court
During a recent training session, Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic crossed paths with American tennis superstar Serena Williams. The 23-time Grand Slam champion is gearing up for her return to Wimbledon, entering the women's singles as a wildcard. Djokovic, who is pursuing his 25th Grand Slam title, shared glimpses of his training on social media.
Wimbledon 2026: Key Dates and Expectations
The 2026 Wimbledon Championships are set to take place from June 29 to July 12. Williams' anticipated return is expected to be a major highlight of the event, as confirmed by Wimbledon through an Instagram announcement.
Serena Williams' Return to Singles Competition
This wildcard entry signifies Williams' first participation in the women's singles at Wimbledon in four years. This comes shortly after she secured a doubles wildcard alongside her sister, Venus Williams. The 44-year-old, often hailed as one of the greatest in tennis history, stepped back from professional play after the 2022 US Open. Earlier this month, she made her competitive return at Queen's Club, teaming up with rising star Victoria Mboko in doubles. They won their first match, but Mboko had to withdraw due to injury, which will also keep her out of Wimbledon.
Venus Williams' Current Status
On another note, Venus Williams, who returned to the tour last July after a 16-month hiatus, is currently ranked No. 119 in doubles. Her best performance since her comeback was reaching the quarterfinals at last year's US Open, where she partnered with Leylah Fernandez.
