Serena Williams' Return to Singles Competition

This wildcard entry signifies Williams' first participation in the women's singles at Wimbledon in four years. This comes shortly after she secured a doubles wildcard alongside her sister, Venus Williams. The 44-year-old, often hailed as one of the greatest in tennis history, stepped back from professional play after the 2022 US Open. Earlier this month, she made her competitive return at Queen's Club, teaming up with rising star Victoria Mboko in doubles. They won their first match, but Mboko had to withdraw due to injury, which will also keep her out of Wimbledon.
