Satwik-Chirag Reach Thailand Open Final

Former champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have made their way back to the final of the Thailand Open after missing out last year. They secured their spot by defeating Malaysia's Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin with scores of 19-21, 22-20, and 21-16 at the Nimibutr Stadium in Thailand on Saturday.


The Malaysian duo started strong, taking control of the first game and establishing a six-point lead at 15-9 after a 7-all tie. Despite efforts from Satwik and Chirag to close the gap, the Malaysians held on to win the game 21-19, as reported by BAI Media.


The second game was fiercely contested, with both teams exchanging points. The Indian pair reached game point at 20-18, but Goh and Nur fought back to save two game points. Ultimately, Satwik and Chirag clinched the game 22-20, forcing a decisive third game.


In the final game, the Indian duo showcased their dominance, winning comfortably with a score of 21-16, marking their first final appearance of the season. They will face either Indonesia's Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin or China's He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu in the championship match.


Earlier in the Round of 16, Satwik and Chirag had defeated Malaysian opponents Goonting Bryan Jeremy and Haikal Muhammad with scores of 21-12, 21-19.


Lakshya Sen Eliminated

In men's singles action, Lakshya Sen, who was the runner-up at the All England Open, faced elimination at the hands of Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn. Kunlavut took an early lead of 11-2 in the first game, but Lakshya fought back with five consecutive points to narrow the gap. However, despite his efforts, the Indian player could not overcome the Olympic silver medalist, losing the match with scores of 19-21, 16-21.
