On Sunday, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai officially launched the three-day Sarguja Olympics 2026. The event has received acclaim from both participants and officials, who commend the initiative for fostering opportunities for grassroots athletes and enhancing sports development in the area.

The Sarguja Olympics has attracted over 349,000 athletes competing in 12 different sports, including kabaddi, football, kho-kho, basketball, wrestling, badminton, and javelin throw.


Event Logistics and Support

According to Ram Kumar Singh, Assistant Director of the Youth & Sports Welfare Department, the event features competitions in 12 sports, with a notable increase in female participation compared to male athletes. He emphasized that comprehensive arrangements have been made for the athletes, including accommodation, meals, medical check-ups, and dedicated medical teams. "Competitions are being held across various disciplines, with women participating in greater numbers. All necessary arrangements, including health check-ups and support teams, have been established to ensure a smooth experience for the players," Singh stated.
