Saraya Reflects on Fame and Future in Wrestling After AEW Departure
Saraya's Potential Return to WWE
Following her recent exit from All Elite Wrestling (AEW), there are strong indications that Saraya may return to WWE in the future. Although a return isn't imminent, she has hinted at the possibility, maintaining a positive relationship with the organization that played a crucial role in her rise to fame.
Saraya, who began her WWE journey at just 19 years old, quickly achieved significant success, becoming the Divas Champion by 2014. This rapid ascent brought her global recognition, but she admits that she struggled to manage the accompanying pressures.
In a recent appearance on the Lightweights Podcast, Saraya reflected on her early WWE days, expressing regret over her choices and acknowledging that she could have been a better role model. She recognized that her environment was not conducive to a healthy lifestyle, a realization that came too late for many.
“I don't think I handled it [fame] great. Initially, I felt I was managing well, but I began to associate with individuals who were more interested in exploiting my success. They encouraged unhealthy habits, including substance use. Ultimately, I made the choice to engage in those behaviors,” Saraya shared, recalling her challenging past.
Saraya's Historic Achievements in WWE
Upon her entry into WWE, Saraya adopted the ring name Paige and made history as the youngest female champion in the company's history. She is a two-time WWE Divas Champion and the first NXT Women's Champion, uniquely holding both titles simultaneously.
However, her later career was marred by injuries and controversies, sidelining her for over five years. After her release from WWE in 2022, she signed with AEW, where she made a successful comeback and became the AEW Women's World Champion at the inaugural All In: London pay-per-view event.
