Leadership Changes in Pakistan Cricket

Dubai: Salman Ali Agha has been appointed as the captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team, set to lead in both the upcoming UAE tri-nation series and the Asia Cup, both taking place in the United Arab Emirates. This decision signifies a notable change in leadership, with former captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan being excluded from the T20I squad, indicating a possible conclusion to their careers in this format. Additionally, fast bowler Naseem Shah, who has faced challenges with his performance, has also been omitted from the Asia Cup roster.


These significant alterations follow the recent appointment of Mike Hesson as the new head coach for Pakistan's white-ball formats.


The tri-nation series will include Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the host nation UAE, serving as a preparatory event for the Asia Cup. The squad comprises 17 players, featuring seasoned athletes like Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, and Faheem Ashraf. The selectors have also chosen to include emerging talents such as Saim Ayub, Hasan Nawaz, and Mohammad Haris.
