Despite a strong performance, Padekar faced a challenging shoot-off against France's Oceanne Mueller. Other Indian shooters also competed, with Elavenil Valarivan and Arya Borse finishing 19th and 63rd, respectively. The competition continues with more finals scheduled tomorrow.

Sakshi Padekar's Performance in Munich

Sakshi Sunil Padekar achieved a seventh-place finish in the women's 10m Air Rifle final during the third day of the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol event held at the renowned Olympiaschiessanlage in Munich, Germany. The 22-year-old shooter from Maharashtra qualified for the finals in third position, scoring an impressive 635.1, trailing only behind World No. 1 Wang Zifei from China and Paris Olympics champion Hyojin Ban from South Korea.


Final Results and Medalists

In a thrilling final, 18-year-old Andelija Stevanovic from Serbia, competing in her first senior World Cup, took home the gold medal with a score of 252.3, clinching victory on the final shot. Japan's Nobata Misaki earned her first senior World Cup medal, securing silver with a score of 252.0. Wang Zifei captured the bronze with a score of 231.1, while Olympic champion Ban finished fourth.


Sakshi's Shot Breakdown

Sakshi started strong with a 10.5 in her opening shot, concluding the first series with a total of 51.5, placing her in sixth. In the second series, she maintained her position with scores of 10.6, 10.4, 10.6, 10.0, and 10.5, totaling 52.1.


During the single shots, she recorded two 10.3s to hold her sixth position, followed by two 10.5s in the 13th shot, gaining a slight lead over Oceanne Mueller from France. However, Mueller's impressive 10.9 in the 14th shot led to a shoot-off, where Sakshi scored 10.5, resulting in her seventh-place finish with a final score of 145.2.


Other Indian Competitors

In addition to Padekar, two other Indian shooters participated. Elavenil Valarivan finished in 19th place with a score of 632.1, while Arya Borse placed 63rd with a score of 627.6 among a competitive field of 146 shooters, where the top 12 all scored above 633.0.


Vidarsa K. Vinod and Tilottama Sen, competing for ranking points, finished in 27th and 32nd places with scores of 630.6 and 630.1, respectively.


25m Rapid Fire Pistol Update

Olympian Anish Bhanwala concluded Stage 1 of the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event in 18th place with a score of 290-10x, keeping his hopes alive for a top-eight finish in the upcoming rounds.


Debutants Suraj Sharma and Udhayveer Sidhu scored 284-11x and 288-14x, respectively, as they aim to secure a spot in the finals.


Looking Ahead

Tomorrow marks the penultimate day of competitions in Munich, featuring three finals: the 10m Air Pistol Women, 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men, and 25m Rapid Fire Pistol.
