Inauguration of SAIMUN 2025
Bhubaneswar: The SAI International Education Group launched the 13th edition of its prominent diplomacy initiative, the SAI Model United Nations (SAIMUN), on Friday. This year, the event has attracted over 750 student delegates from 23 countries and 26 prestigious schools worldwide.
During the opening ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, who served as the Chief Guest, praised the vision of the late founder Bijaya Kumar Sahoo. He reflected on their initial conversation, expressing admiration for SAI's accomplishments. He encouraged the students to engage confidently and utilize this opportunity to evolve into responsible global citizens.
In her welcoming remarks, Chairperson Silpi Sahoo emphasized that SAIMUN embodies the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—One World, One Family. She highlighted the event's role in promoting cross-cultural dialogue and developing globally responsible leaders. The 2025 edition features 10 intellectually stimulating committees, allowing students to engage in discussions on pressing global challenges through simulated diplomatic exchanges. Committees include the United Nations General Assembly - Disarmament and International Security Committee (UNGA-DISEC), United Nations Security Council (UNSC), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women), providing participants with practical insights into diplomacy, negotiation, and global governance.
A standout feature of the event was a service project that brought together international delegates and SAI students at a school for children with mental challenges, fostering empathy and inclusion. Additionally, the ceremony recognized academic achievers with the Bijaya Kumar Sahoo Global SAIoneer Award and the Bijaya Kumar Sahoo Emerging Entrepreneur Award, celebrating excellence in education and innovation.
