Sahith Theegala Faces Challenges Ahead of 107th PGA Championship

Theegala's Anticipation for the PGA Championship
North Carolina [US], May 15: Sahith Theegala is set to share the course with Sepp Straka during the opening round of the 107th PGA Championship, but he carries concerns regarding a neck injury, as reported by the PGA.
Theegala, who has emerged as a prominent figure in the golfing world, will compete alongside the recent winner of the Truist Championship. Unfortunately, he had to withdraw from that event after three rounds due to a neck strain, which resulted in a score of 78 during his third round.
As he prepares to play with Straka and Max McGreevy, Theegala will monitor the condition of his neck closely.
Another Indian-American golfer, Akshay Bhatia, is also making waves this season, currently holding a third-place finish in the Players. Bhatia, who recently signed with Hero, a brand linked to his parents' homeland, will be paired with Denny McCarthy and Sam Burns.
Indo-British golfer Aaron Rai will tee off alongside Joe Highsmith and Cameron Young.
During the Truist Championship, Theegala had to withdraw due to his neck injury. Although there was no cut in the event, he struggled with four bogeys, a double bogey, and a triple bogey in his third round at the Wissahickon Course of the Philadelphia Cricket Club. He received physical therapy before exiting the tournament.
Following Rory McIlroy's career Grand Slam achievement in April at the Masters, attention now shifts to Jordan Spieth, who requires only the PGA Championship to complete his own Grand Slam. Spieth has previously won the Masters and the US Open in 2015, and the Open in 2017, and is eager to add the PGA Championship to his accolades.
Notable pairings for the tournament include Masters champion Rory McIlroy with Scottie Scheffler and defending champion Xander Schauffele, while two-time PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas will play alongside Dustin Johnson and Collin Morikawa.
The PGA Championship, marking the second major of the season, returns to the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Scottie Scheffler, who recently secured his first win of the season at TPC Craig Ranch during THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, is a leading contender, even ahead of McIlroy.
This week’s field features 99 of the top 100 players, with only Billy Horschel absent due to hip surgery.
Scheffler, a two-time major champion, is making his sixth appearance at the PGA Championship, having achieved four top-10 finishes in his first five outings, including a shared second place at Oak Hill Country Club in 2023.
McIlroy's victory at the Masters was his third win of the 2025 season, the highest on TOUR.
Also competing will be Bryson DeChambeau, the U.S. Open champion in 2024 and 2020. Jon Rahm, who has already won the Masters and U.S. Open, is halfway to achieving a career Grand Slam.
