Sahil Parakh's IPL Journey Begins

Sahil Parakh, a promising young batter for the Delhi Capitals, shared his excitement about learning from seasoned players during his inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The 19-year-old has had the opportunity to observe the legendary MS Dhoni's presence firsthand while competing against him, as well as to learn from veteran KL Rahul. Parakh, who has represented Maharashtra at various levels, made headlines with a remarkable century in just 75 balls during an Under-19 match against Australia in September 2024. His recent performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) saw him scoring 6 and 18 runs, and he hopes that playing with the Capitals will enhance his skills.


Gaining Insights from IPL Stars

In an interview, Parakh expressed his enthusiasm about sharing the dressing room with cricketing stars like KL Rahul, David Miller, and Mitchell Starc. He stated, "It’s a huge honor to be around such talented players. I aim to absorb as much knowledge as possible from their batting techniques and apply it to my own game." As a top-order batter, he is particularly keen on learning from KL Rahul, who has evolved his game to adapt to various batting positions. Parakh mentioned, "I look forward to discussing my queries with him once I join the team."


Early Beginnings and Motivation

Parakh's cricket journey began at the tender age of five, inspired by his father, who encouraged him to pursue the sport. His passion for cricket has grown ever since, leading him to represent Maharashtra at multiple age levels, including U19, U23, and senior teams. He also participated in the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL). Parakh reflected, "My father is my inspiration. I started playing because of him, and my love for the game has only intensified. This year marks my senior debut and entry into the IPL, and I’m eager to learn and grow in my career."


Impressive Domestic Performances

During the Cooch Behar Trophy for U19 players, Parakh accumulated 264 runs across four matches, averaging 44.00 with a strike rate exceeding 131, including a top score of 64. It was in this tournament that he learned about his IPL selection. Last year, he also participated in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, scoring 113 runs in six innings. In the Maharashtra Premier League, he stood out as a key player for the Eagle Nashik Titans, amassing 202 runs in eight matches at an average of 28.86 and a striking strike rate of 177.19, including 14 sixes.


Excitement Over IPL Selection

Parakh shared his feelings about being selected by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 30 lakhs, saying, "Our entire Under-19 team was gathered to watch the auction after our match in the Cooch Behar tournament. It was an incredible feeling to be chosen by DC, and I’m eager to contribute to the team’s success."


Idolizing MS Dhoni

Parakh looks up to MS Dhoni as his cricketing idol and is thrilled at the prospect of meeting him and experiencing his legendary aura. He concluded, "MS Dhoni is my inspiration. I’m excited to observe his gameplay and understand the charisma he brings to the field."
