Excitement Builds for the SAFF Football Championship

Dhaka, Bangladesh - November 3: The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) is gearing up to launch the SAFF Football Championship in Bangladesh, commencing on November 5.

All preparations have been finalized, and delegations along with players from the participating nations have started to arrive in Dhaka. The tournament will officially begin with a highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan.

“We are thrilled to host the SAFF Championship in Bangladesh after a significant hiatus. Six teams will compete: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, Nepal is unable to join due to a FIFA suspension,” stated P Kattel, General Secretary of the South Asian Football Federation.

“For the first time in this competition, we plan to implement VAR technology. This will be a first for South Asia, with a test run during the group stages for internal purposes, and it will be fully operational during the semi-finals and finals,” he added.

“Everyone is ready and excited. November offers excellent weather for hosting this event, and we anticipate a vibrant football festival over the next two weeks. I encourage all supporters and fans from Bangladesh, South Asia, and beyond to tune in to our flagship competition,” Kattel remarked.

Bangladesh's Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to be the chief guest at the final match on November 17.
