On Friday, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar referred to the 'Indian Street Premier League (ISPL)' as an exceptional platform for players to showcase their skills. He emphasized that his involvement in the tournament stems from its commitment to providing opportunities for young cricketers across the nation.
ISPL Season Launch
The third season of ISPL kicked off on Friday, featuring eight teams competing for a prize pool of ₹5.92 crores. This tournament, played in a T10 format with tennis balls, will host a total of 44 matches over the course of a month.
Tendulkar's Vision for Young Players
Tendulkar stated, 'ISPL offers a fantastic platform for players to display their talent. I believe that athletes need such support and opportunities to demonstrate what they are capable of.' He further added, 'I joined ISPL because it has provided opportunities to numerous players across the country. We need goals in life that motivate us to strive for them and put in our best efforts every day. ISPL is also a reason to stay passionately connected to the sport.'
Highlighting Emerging Talent
Discussing the talent on display, he noted that some remarkable performances have been witnessed. Players like Abhishek and Irfan have proven their mettle, with one being part of a Mumbai Ranji team and the other invited for trials with Kolkata Knight Riders. Tendulkar remarked, 'This is a significant step in their careers, and it’s something that other players are also paying attention to.'
