Baisoya's Historic Win at IGPL Invitational 2026

Sachin Baisoya, recognized as a top golfer in India's domestic circuit, achieved his first victory on the IGPL Tour at the IGPL Invitational 2026 held in Mauritius, organized by tennis legend Leander Paes. Baisoya's impressive performance on the back nine, scoring 4-under 32, culminated in a total score of 11-under with a final round of 5-under 67.

Veer Ganapathy, who led overnight, finished at 8-under after an even-par round that included two birdies and two bogeys on the scenic Anahita Golf Course. This marked the third time the 18-year-old has placed as runner-up, indicating his consistent potential for future victories.

Baisoya's comeback from two shots behind to win by three strokes marks a significant milestone, especially after several near misses in the previous season.

Tournament Highlights and Leaderboard Overview

The event was well-received, with players praising the challenging course and its stunning location in Mauritius. The local golfing community and business sector showed strong support for the event, commending Leander Paes for his initiative.

Final Round Insights

Baisoya, who has previously won four times on the Indian circuit, has been a strong contender on the IGPL Tour since its launch last September. As a member of the Phoenix Team from Hyderabad, he consistently achieved top-three finishes last season and ranked fourth overall.

"Winning in India is always special, but securing a title on an international tour adds to the thrill. This course is challenging yet beautiful," Baisoya remarked.

Starting the final day two shots behind, Baisoya quickly gained momentum with birdies on the first and third holes, while Ganapathy stumbled with a bogey. Although Ganapathy briefly regained the lead with birdies on the fifth and sixth, he faltered on the eighth.

The turning point came between the 12th and 16th holes, where Baisoya made four birdies in five holes, reaching 10-under, and another birdie on the 16th brought him to 11-under. Despite Ganapathy's four birdies, he couldn't maintain his lead, allowing Baisoya to secure a comfortable victory.
