S Sreesanth Denies Knowledge of KCA Ban Amid Controversy

Sreesanth Unaware of KCA Suspension
Former Indian cricketer S Sreesanth has stated that he has not received any official communication from the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) regarding his three-year suspension and is unclear about the reasons behind this decision.
The KCA announced Sreesanth's suspension for three years, attributing it to allegedly false and defamatory comments he made about the association, particularly in relation to Sanju Samson's exclusion from the Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year, according to a KCA statement.
This decision was reached during a special general body meeting of the KCA that took place in Ernakulam on April 30.
Sreesanth's Comments on Samson's Exclusion
Sreesanth, who is currently a co-owner of the Kerala Cricket League team Kollam Aries, publicly criticized the KCA, suggesting their involvement in Samson's omission from the team.
In response to his remarks, show-cause notices were issued not only to Sreesanth but also to three franchise teams, including Kollam Aries, Alleppey Team Lead Contender Sai Krishnan, and Alleppey Ripples.
KCA's Legal Actions
The KCA has also indicated plans to take legal action against Samson's father, Samson Vishwanath, former cricketer Reji Lukose, and a news anchor from a 24-hour news channel, citing defamatory statements made against the association.
Sreesanth's cricket career has been marked by both achievements and controversies. He made his ODI debut for India in 2005 against Sri Lanka and was part of the victorious teams in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.
Sreesanth's Career Statistics
Throughout his career, Sreesanth participated in 90 matches, taking 169 wickets with an average of 35.89 and an economy rate of 4.49. His best bowling performance was 6/55 against England in 2006.
In 2013, he received a lifetime ban from the BCCI due to alleged spot-fixing in the IPL, which was later reduced to seven years, concluding in September 2020. He returned to domestic cricket in 2021, playing for Kerala in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Sreesanth also entered the IPL auctions in 2021 and 2022 but went unsold. His overall statistics include 27 Test matches with 87 wickets, 53 ODIs with 75 wickets, and 10 T20Is with seven wickets.
