Yadav Discusses CWG Performance Challenges

Rohit Yadav shared insights about the hurdles he encountered during the men's javelin throw final at the Commonwealth Games 2026. He pointed out that the cold and windy weather, along with runway difficulties, played a significant role in impacting his performance. Despite these challenges, he viewed the experience as a valuable learning opportunity, identifying areas where he can improve. Yadav secured seventh place in the javelin throw final in Glasgow, achieving a best throw of 81.56 meters.

Advice for Aspiring Athletes

Yadav highlighted the crucial elements of hard work, concentration, and self-confidence for young athletes. He acknowledged that setbacks are an inevitable part of an athlete's journey. He encouraged them to learn from tough experiences, maintain their efforts, and continuously seek improvement.

"For young athletes, the essentials are dedication, focus, and belief in oneself. There will be days when things don't go as planned, and that's perfectly fine. It's important to accept those moments, learn from them, and trust that you can perform better in the future. We always strive to give our best, but sometimes circumstances are not in our favor. The key is to persist and work towards making the next opportunity even better," he stated.

India's Performance at the Glasgow Games

India concluded its Commonwealth Games 2026 journey on a high note, finishing fourth in the overall medal tally with a total of 39 medals. The country achieved 13 gold, 17 silver, and nine bronze medals from a contingent of 122 athletes. This result matched the fourth-place finish from the previous Games in Birmingham, despite a significantly reduced program that left out several sports where India typically excels.
