Rohit Sharma's Midnight Cravings

Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma recently opened up about his favorite midnight snack during Test matches, admitting that the format often left him feeling anxious and awake at night.

Having played 67 Test matches for India between 2013 and 2024, Rohit discussed his late-night comfort food on his television show, 'Family Full House with Rohit Sharma'.

After announcing his retirement from Test cricket last year, he accumulated a total of 4,301 runs with an average of 40.57, including 12 centuries and 18 fifties, with a personal best of 212 runs.

Nervous Nights Before Test Matches

Rohit shared that the pressure of playing in his favorite format often kept him awake, revealing that his go-to comfort food was his mother's homemade banana wafers.

He expressed, "Yes, those cravings would happen. I wouldn't lie; whenever I played Test matches, I felt a lot of nervousness. It was my favorite format."

He elaborated on the difficulties of the longest format, stating, "Playing Test cricket is not an easy task. Every format has its challenges, but Test matches come with their unique set of pressures. I was always nervous, which made it hard for me to sleep at night, so I would stay awake."

A Taste of Home

When discussing his late-night munchies, Rohit mentioned, "When you’re awake, you crave something to eat. I always kept my comfort food with me, which my mother made for me—banana wafers."

He noted that these wafers were baked, not fried, making them a healthy snack he could easily carry during matches. He added, "They weren't fried; my mother had a special way of baking them, and I always took them with me, eating them whenever I felt like it."
