Rohit Sharma Reflects on Suryakumar Yadav's Stunning Catch in T20 World Cup Final

Rohit Sharma's Doubts on Suryakumar Yadav's Catch
India's ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, expressed uncertainty regarding Suryakumar Yadav's remarkable catch during the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup against South Africa in Barbados. He mentioned that while the umpires were reviewing the legality of the catch, he sought confirmation from Suryakumar about his position relative to the boundary.
The tension peaked in the final over when South Africa needed 16 runs, with the formidable David Miller at the crease. Miller struck a wide full toss from Hardik Pandya towards long-off, where Suryakumar made an incredible catch, seemingly defying the odds.
After a thorough check by the umpires, David Miller was declared out, leading India to a thrilling seven-run victory.
Rohit Sharma's Insights on the Catch
In a recent interview with Jio Hotstar, Rohit shared his thoughts on the catch:
"When the umpire referred the catch to the third umpire, everyone was on edge. I was positioned at long-off, watching Surya. Initially, I thought it was a six, but then I saw Surya catch it brilliantly."
Rohit further elaborated:
"I was right next to Surya during the review. I asked him directly, 'Did you catch it?' He confidently replied that he had. I then looked around, unsure, but the zoom camera later confirmed that there was no contact with the boundary rope. We felt relieved and happy."
