While chasing a daunting target of 406 runs, the pair amassed a stunning 255 runs before Rohit was dismissed for 101 runs off 75 balls, featuring 10 boundaries and six sixes, achieving a strike rate of 134.67.

Record-Breaking Stand

The record for the highest opening partnership for India remains with Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, who scored 258 runs against Kenya in 2001 at Paarl. In their 47 innings together, Rohit and Gill have accumulated a total of 3,058 runs at an impressive average of 66.47, including nine centuries and 16 half-centuries.

West Indies Sets a New Benchmark

In the match, India won the toss and opted to field first. The West Indies batsmen delivered explosive performances, with John Campbell scoring 101 runs off 68 balls, Shai Hope contributing 104 runs from 94 balls, and Amir Jangoo hitting 114 runs off 77 balls. This impressive batting display propelled the West Indies to their highest-ever ODI total of 405/7.
