Rohit Sharma Shines in IPL Match Against Rajasthan Royals

In the 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Rohit Sharma showcased his talent for the Mumbai Indians (MI) against the Rajasthan Royals on May 1 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. He scored 53 runs off 36 deliveries, hitting six boundaries and maintaining a strike rate of 147.22. Alongside Ryan Rickelton, who contributed significantly with 61 runs from 38 balls, including seven fours and three sixes, they formed a solid opening partnership of 116 runs.


Rohit Sharma Reaches 6000 Runs Milestone


During his innings, Rohit Sharma reached a significant career milestone, becoming the first player to accumulate 6000 runs for the Mumbai Indians across all competitions, including the IPL and the Champions League T20. He entered the match needing just 29 runs to hit this landmark and achieved it with a sweep shot off Kumar Kartikeya.


Having played 231 matches for MI, Rohit has amassed over 6000 runs, which includes two centuries and 38 half-centuries. In comparison, no other MI player has crossed the 4000-run mark, with Kieron Pollard in second place at 3915 runs and Suryakumar Yadav following with 3501 runs.

Rohit began his IPL career with the Deccan Chargers, contributing to their championship win in 2009. He joined the Mumbai Indians in 2011 and has been a pivotal player ever since, taking on the captaincy in 2013 and leading MI to five IPL titles (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020). However, ahead of the 2024 season, MI made a significant decision to replace him with Hardik Pandya as captain.
