Roberto Carlos Arrives in Kathmandu

On Tuesday morning, the legendary Brazilian footballer Roberto Carlos touched down in Kathmandu, Nepal, to serve as a special guest at the ongoing Nepal Super League (NSL).

Originally set to arrive on Friday, his trip was delayed due to health issues. Now that he has recovered, Carlos is ready to participate in the NSL festivities at Dashrath Stadium.

Considered one of the finest left-backs in the history of football, Carlos made his debut for the Brazilian national team in 1992. He has earned more than 120 caps and played a crucial role in Brazil's triumph at the 2002 FIFA World Cup held in South Korea and Japan.

A former professional footballer from Brazil, Carlos was the runner-up for the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 1997. He is best known for his lengthy tenure at Real Madrid and his consistent contributions to the Brazilian national squad.

His club career was predominantly spent at Real Madrid, where he played from 1996 until 2007. During his time with the club, he secured four La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League trophies, amassing over 1,100 professional appearances across club and international competitions.

The Nepal Super League, a knockout tournament featuring seven franchise teams, kicked off its third season on March 29 at Kathmandu's Dasharath Stadium.

The participating teams include Butwal Lumbini FC, Dhangadhi FC, FC Chitwan, Jhapa FC, Pokhara Thunders, Lalitpur City FC, and Kathmandu Rayzrs.

These teams will compete in a single round-robin format, with the top four teams advancing to the qualifiers and eliminator to determine the finalists.

The championship match is set for April 26. Notably, this season does not include Birgunj United FC or Sporting Ilam De Mechi FC, which were part of the previous season's nine-team lineup.
