Rishikanta Singh Shines at Commonwealth Games 2026 with Silver Medal

In a remarkable display of strength, Rishikanta Singh secured India's inaugural silver medal in the men's 60kg weightlifting category at the Commonwealth Games 2026. He set a new CWG record by successfully lifting 121kg during the snatch event. Malaysian competitor Aniq Kasdan matched this lift, both athletes having previously lifted 116kg and 119kg in their initial attempts. The final lift of 121kg marked a historic moment for both weightlifters.

In the clean and jerk segment, Rishikanta began with a lift of 143kg, while Kasdan managed 145kg. Kasdan continued to excel with subsequent lifts of 149kg and 152kg. Rishikanta attempted to lift 148kg in his second clean and jerk but was unable to complete it. To surpass Kasdan's total of 273kg, Rishikanta needed to lift 153kg in his final attempt. Unfortunately, he could not complete this lift, finishing with a total of 264kg. The bronze medal was claimed by Kenya's Joshua Amunga Mboya, who lifted a total of 260kg.
