Leeds [UK], June 21: On Thursday, Rishabh Pant reached a significant milestone by scoring 3000 runs in Test cricket, overtaking former Indian captain MS Dhoni to become India's leading wicketkeeper-batter.
Pant accomplished this remarkable feat during the first Test match against England at Headingley, marking the beginning of the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for both teams.
At the close of Day 1, Pant was not out on 65, making him Asia's most successful wicketkeeper-batter in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries, surpassing the legendary Dhoni.
Currently, Pant has amassed 1746 runs in SENA across 27 matches, boasting an average of 38.80, which includes four centuries and six fifties.
Earlier in the day, India showcased a strong performance with debutant captain Shubman Gill scoring a composed century, alongside a fluent ton from Yashasvi Jaiswal, leading the team to a commanding 359/3 at stumps on Day 1 of the first Test against England.
