Rishabh Pant Shines Despite Injury, Future Captaincy Discussed
Rishabh Pant's Stellar Performance Against England
In the ongoing five-match Test series against England, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been in remarkable form. Despite suffering a toe fracture during the second day of the Manchester Test, he managed to score a half-century. So far in this series, Pant has achieved two centuries and three half-centuries. However, his participation in the remaining matches now seems uncertain.
Meanwhile, Hemang Badani, the head coach of the Delhi Capitals, has hailed Pant as a potential future Test captain. He also expressed criticism regarding Shubman Gill's captaincy during discussions.
Badani praised Pant's performance, stating that he could be the next captain of the Indian team. Speaking on Sony Sports, he emphasized that Pant has proven himself and is currently excelling with the bat.
He noted the courage it takes to bat and run on an injured foot, highlighting that Pant is demonstrating leadership qualities. Badani remarked that Pant is not just an ordinary player but is on the path to becoming a future leader. Currently, Pant serves as the vice-captain and aims to be a reliable player for the team, having already established this in the series. Presently, he ranks second in terms of runs scored in the series.
