Rishabh Pant Penalized for Over Rate Violation


Lucknow: Rishabh Pant, the captain of Lucknow Super Giants, has been fined ₹30 lakh due to a slow over rate during their recent IPL match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.


In addition, the remaining players in the squad, including the Impact Player, received a fine of ₹12 lakh each for the same infraction on Tuesday.


According to an IPL media statement, "This was Pant's team's third violation of the season regarding the minimum over-rate rules, resulting in the hefty fine."


The other players in the Playing XI were fined either ₹12 lakh or 50% of their match fees, whichever amount was lower.


Despite Pant's impressive performance, scoring 118 runs off 61 balls, LSG lost the match by six wickets, concluding their season on a disappointing note.


This victory allowed RCB to progress to Qualifier 1, where they will compete against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur (Chandigarh) on Thursday.
