Renedy Singh Predicts Spain to Triumph Over Argentina in FIFA World Cup 2026 Final
Anticipation Builds for FIFA World Cup 2026 Final
As the FIFA World Cup 2026 final approaches, former Indian football star Renedy Singh has expressed his support for Spain, emphasizing their cohesive team dynamics. He acknowledged the presence of Lionel Messi, regarded as the world's best player, in the Argentine squad.
The final, scheduled for July 20, will showcase a generational clash, with Messi's Argentina striving for consecutive World Cup victories, while Spain, featuring young talent Lamine Yamal, aims for their second title since 2010. Both teams are currently enjoying impressive winning streaks, with Argentina remaining unbeaten in their last 14 matches. Meanwhile, Spain, the reigning Euro champions, have not lost in their last 37 games, bolstered by the outstanding performance of goalkeeper Unai Simon, a contender for the 'Golden Glove' award.
Renedy Singh's Insights on the Final
In an interview, Renedy remarked, "Spain has been showcasing exceptional football, but they will face Argentina. While Messi is undoubtedly the best player globally, Spain operates as a unit. They excel in teamwork, with no single star dominating. However, it will be a challenging match, and I believe Spain will emerge victorious despite Messi's presence."
Both teams enter the final after securing victories against France (2-0) and England (2-1).
The GOAT Debate: Messi vs. Ronaldo
When discussing the ongoing debate over who holds the title of the 'Greatest of All Time' in football—Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi—Renedy acknowledged both as exceptional professionals but highlighted Messi's unique qualities.
"Ronaldo has undoubtedly been one of the best players, but Messi is on a different level. His ability to assist, score, and play is remarkable. Ronaldo's influence has elevated Messi's game," he stated.
Cristiano Ronaldo made history in this tournament by becoming the first player to score in six FIFA World Cups, yet the trophy remains elusive for the 41-year-old Portuguese star, whose team was eliminated in the round of 16 after a 1-0 defeat to Spain.
Despite his impressive tally of over 970 career goals and numerous team and individual accolades, Ronaldo exited his final World Cup without the coveted trophy, having netted 11 goals across six tournaments, three of which came in this edition.
While both players have numerous club honors, including five UEFA Champions League titles and various league championships, the debate continues as Messi breaks records in the tournament. Meanwhile, Ronaldo remains a significant figure in world football, currently playing for Al Nassr and approaching 1,000 professional goals, yet without a FIFA World Cup title.
Messi, on the other hand, has set multiple records in this tournament, leading with the most goals (21) and assists (12) in FIFA World Cup history. In the current edition, he has contributed eight goals and 12 assists, positioning him as a top contender for the 'Golden Boot'.
