Refunds for Cancelled T20 Match
The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has confirmed that full refunds will be issued to spectators for the cancelled T20 match between India and South Africa in Lucknow. This match was scheduled to take place at the Ekana Stadium on Wednesday evening but was called off without a ball being bowled due to heavy smog and extremely poor visibility.
According to reports, the match was set to start at 7 PM, but despite six inspections, conditions did not improve. Around 9:30 PM, the umpires decided to cancel the match. Following this decision, many questions arose regarding ticket refunds, prompting UPCA to release an official statement.
UPCA Secretary Prem Manohar Gupta stated that spectators who purchased tickets online would receive their refunds through the same payment method used for the purchase. He also clarified that refund information would be sent to the email address registered during the ticket booking, advising spectators to keep an eye on their inboxes.
For those who bought tickets offline, a separate refund process has been established. These ticket holders can claim their refunds at the box office located at Gate Number Two of the Ekana International Cricket Stadium on December 20, 21, and 22. The designated hours for this process are from 11 AM to 6 PM.
It is important to note that offline ticket holders must be present in person and bring their original tickets along with a copy of a valid government ID. Additionally, they will need to fill out a refund form with their bank details, which will be submitted for verification before the refund is processed directly to their bank accounts.
It has been made clear that the refund process will commence only after all documents and information have been thoroughly verified. Following the cancellation of the Lucknow match, the fifth and final T20 match of the series between India and South Africa is set to take place in Ahmedabad on Friday, where the series will be decided.
