RCB Claims First IPL Trophy, Surpassing CSK in Brand Value
Historic Victory for RCB in IPL 2025
After a 17-year wait, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has finally lifted its first IPL trophy in 2025. This landmark achievement not only marks a significant moment on the field but also translates into success off the field. RCB has emerged as a pivotal player in the financial landscape of the IPL, overtaking long-time rival Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to become the league's most valuable franchise. This victory has ended CSK's reign at the top of the valuation charts.
According to a report from a global investment bank, the IPL's valuation has surged by 12.9%, reaching a staggering $18.5 billion. The report highlights that the standalone brand value of the IPL has increased by 13.8% over the past year, now standing at $3.9 billion.
The report also emphasizes the growing appeal of the IPL. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has generated ₹1,485 crore from four associate sponsorship slots—My11Circle, Angel One, RuPay, and CEAT—marking a 25% increase from the previous cycle. Additionally, the tournament has extended its title sponsorship commitment with the Tata Group in a five-year deal worth $300 million, lasting until 2028.
RCB Leads in Brand Value Among IPL Franchises
In terms of franchise brand value, the 2025 champions RCB top the list with a valuation of $269 million, a significant rise from last year's $227 million. Following closely is the Mumbai Indians, whose brand value has increased from $204 million in 2024 to $242 million this year.
