RCB Celebrates IPL 2025 Win Amid Tragic Stampede Incident
Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Historic IPL Victory
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) celebrated their IPL 2025 championship at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, despite a tragic stampede occurring outside the venue on June 4.
RCB ended an 18-year title drought by defeating the Punjab Kings in a nail-biting final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3, winning by just 6 runs.
This victory marked RCB's first IPL title after previously reaching the finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016 without success.
Stampede Outside Chinnaswamy Stadium
Before the celebration began, a stampede-like situation erupted outside the stadium as fans gathered to welcome their champions. The chaos was reportedly caused by overcrowding and inadequate crowd management.
Tragically, reports indicate that 11 individuals may have lost their lives, with many others injured, overshadowing what was intended to be a joyous occasion for RCB supporters.

Emergency services were dispatched to assist the injured, with police managing the situation and transporting victims to local hospitals, including Bourwing Hospital and Vaidehi Hospital.
Celebrations Continue Despite the Incident
In spite of the stampede, RCB proceeded with their celebrations at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The team was honored by Karnataka Chief Minister M Siddaramiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar at the Vidhana Soudha, receiving traditional accolades such as the Mysuru Peta and Puspha Maala for their historic win.
However, the ceremony was interrupted by rain, prompting players to be escorted to the bus and head directly to the stadium. Despite the unfortunate events outside, RCB did not officially announce the cancellation of the celebration, and thousands of fans remained at the stadium, undeterred by the downpour.
In a video shared online, RCB players were seen celebrating with the trophy, while Virat Kohli addressed the crowd at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Karnataka Deputy CM was also present to join in the festivities.

It was noted that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL committee were not informed about RCB's plans for a victory parade in Bengaluru.
Prior to the celebrations, Bengaluru Traffic Police issued a notice stating that there would be no open-bus victory parade from Vidhana Soudha to M Chinnaswamy and advised the public to utilize metro or public transport due to limited parking.
